I started out on Delphi Forums, an online social community in March 2005. Since then I have become Assistant Manager for two forums and have two forums of my own. I started with Go Firefox!, a forum which is not only a support from for Firefox users in general but as for Firefox users within the Delphi Forums community. In June 2006, I became an Assistant Manager and started working on an extensive knowledge based guide (not quite a Wiki) for Firefox and using Firefox within Delphi Forums.
Through my ‘travels’ within Delphi Forums I met up with Terri aka KidMagnet in June 2006. She is the forum hostess for The Nut Bowl, a forum that I really can’t describe other than lots of poetry, haikus, photos and ‘mixed nuts’. Later on I became Assistant Manager for her forum as well so I could write promos for her forum. KidMagnet also has a photography/Haiku ‘blag’ called Just Kiddin’.
In January 2009, I was experimenting with with a new membership program offered by Delphi Forums. As a test to see what could be done with this membership program, KidMagnet changed ownership of a forum she had created called Drat! to me. I really don’t have a ‘theme’ for Drat! other than it has become a place to post odd news and stupid criminal stories, jokes and even a little bit of Firefox and Thunderbird related topics. Not wanting to renew my premium membership the forum was turned over to a mutual friend of ours, Bus and renamed to Off Track.
In March 2009 as part of my goal to better promote Thunderbird, I created a new forum on Delphi Forums called Thunderbird Help. The purpose and intent of this forum is to provide help, support and general assistance to Thunderbird users or even perspective users within Delphi Forums. It is also a place where I can discuss current news and developments regarding the current Thunderbird 3.1 and upcoming Thunderbird 3.3 releases. Also a place for me and others to share Thunderbird tips/tricks/hacks and information about Thunderbird extensions.
In May 2009, I upgraded Drat! to a premium forum and changed the name to El Guru’s Drat! KidMagnet is my Assistant Manager in these forums and writes my forum’s promos. It may seem odd or even funny how we don’t write promo for own forums, but we find it works well. Allows us to see our forum’s in a different prescriptive and it works out well.
In March 2010, I turned ownership of both Thunderbird Help and Drat! over to KidMagnet so these forums would remain in a premium status when my annual premium membership lapses. I still plan staying on Delphi Forums, but not on a membership level that allows the hosting or premium forums. In October 2010 due to lack of time I left Delphi Forums. Drat! was taken over by Bus a friend of KidMagnet and myself and became Off Track.
I made a return to Delphi Forums at the beginning of 2011 and resumed operations of Thunderbird Help. In March 2011, in order to keep the name same across all mediums,Thunderbird Help became The Email Mafia Forum.
